The Dasani Community Bike Program has been brought to the Three Rivers Heritage Trail through the generous support of the Dasani Corporation and Trek of Pittsburgh. Sponsoring this Community Bike Program is a great way to provide the public with a new way to enjoy the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.

What is the Community Bike Program? The Community Bike program is a first for the Pittsburgh Region. Friends of the Riverfront in conjunction with our program partners Increase awareness and engagement with the Pittsburgh region's rivers and riverfronts through activities, stewardship and expansion of water and land trails. The Community Bike Program is a natural extension of our mission to reconnect people with their rivers and riverfronts. The Community Bikes are available to adults over the age of 18 who wish to become active, explore and enjoy the Three Rivers Heritage Trail system and other great amenities the confluence of three rivers has to offer.

How do I access the Community Bikes? To access the Bikes please visit our office at 33 Terminal Way (just off East Carson Street in the South Side), Pittsburgh PA 15219 Monday – Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Where are the Bikes and Bike lockers located? The community Bike program has two locations on the Three Rivers Heritage Trail system. The first site is along the South Side Trail off of 4th Street. Parking is free and available after 4:00 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends. We also encourage people to use the parking to visit our office just a block away at 33 Terminal Way, a convenient location to sign onto the program and gain your swipe card.

The second site is along the North Shore Trail segment along River Avenue adjacent to the Heinz Lofts Apartments. Trail head parking is also available adjacent to the Bike lockers, nearby across from the Washington’s Landing pedestrian bridge and at the trail parking lot next to the 16th Street Bridge. Both locations showcase a Heritage Trail Sign outlining the trail system and amenities.

Where can I go for a ride? Friends of the Riverfront, The City of Pittsburgh, and several adjoining municipalities work hard to ensure the Three Rivers Heritage Trail is well maintained and accessible for your enjoyment. There are currently over 21 miles of trail for you to explore and many interesting interpretive signs to inform and delight your imagination. We must insist that the Community Bikes are used and remain only on the designated Three Rivers Heritage Trail. The Bikes are not designed or equipped for on-road/off-road use or use after dusk. Please keep this in mind and always return the Bikes to the original locker you removed it from 30 minutes before dusk. This will ensure maximum availability of Bikes for other users. You are free to keep the i-button and use it during your next visit to the Three Rivers Heritage Trail.

What if I still have questions or need assistance? Please feel free to contact us at friends@friendsoftheriverfront.org or by phone 412.488.0212. Maps of the Three Rivers Heritage Trail are available at information centers throughout the City of Pittsburgh. The maps are also available upon request and will be mailed to you within 48 hours. Enjoy the Trails!
